Charity event for Childrens Charities - 5/16/2014

Gavin Dobbins, Charity Champion May 2014 & Demma Project Manager supported by kind staff donations help 
to raise over 1000 for children's charities.

Birmingham City legend Paul Tait organised a family fun day at Halesowen Town Football Club on Sunday May 
4th to raise cash for a charity close to his heart.

Ex-professionals, boxers and media stars featured in the match on Sunday at the Grove between a Paul Tait 
Blues X1 and The Dad's Army - a team made up of fathers of the boys Paul coaches in Halesowen.

The money raised will be split between Autism Birmingham and The Richard Bettle Trust which raises money 
for research into metabolic illness in memory of former Earls High School pupil Richard who died aged 12 in 
1993.

Paul Tait, scorer of the world's first golden goal, said: "I wanted to give something back and as I have a child 
with Aspergers Syndrome I want to raise cash and awareness for the charity.

"I am an ambassador for Autism Birmingham and hopefully we will raise enough cash to build a sensory centre 
to help children and their parents deal with their condition."

A vast array of former Blues stars are turned out for the charity match, which is sponsored by Royal Fish Bar, 
including Mark Ward, Tony Capaldi, Michael Johnson and Dave Barnett.

British welterweight champion Frankie Gavin and former world champion Wayne Elcock also be appeared as 
did TalkSport presenter Ian Danter.

Paul said: "I am over the moon so many stars are giving up their time for this great family fun day which is in 
aid of two great charities."

The game ended with a 4-2 victory for the Paul Tait XI although the dads team did put up a good 2nd half 
performance, From the day there was 1100 Raised with more to come from player donations this week !
